It is truly an honor that Earl Jones, MD, owner-winemaker of Abacela has agreed to travel all the way up from Winston (near Roseburg), Oregon to attend our event.   Abacela has just been named one of the "Hot Small Brands of 2009" by Wine Business Monthly magazine. So we thought it only fitting we make this one helluva "Hot Evening". This will be our first event at Brazil Grill, Oregon's only true Brazilian Style Steakhouse.  This is truly Brazilian Churrasco style featuring Rodizio Service.  Owner, Manager Henrique Konzen has graciously waived corkage for Members of our Society making an already good deal an absolute bargain.

We will start with 2008 Abacela Rosado which has received a Platinum and Best Buy ratings from Wine Press Northwest.  Then 2008 Abacela Viognier as we proceed through the Salad Bar of 16 freshly made salads.  Next Magnums of 2003 and 2004 Abacela Merlot as we proceed through the Hot Bar of Black Beans, Bean Stew, Rice and Potatoes.  Each of us will have a disk on our table which is red on one side and green on the other. We will enjoy 2006 Abacela Cabernet Franc, 2007 Abacela Granacha (rated "Excellent" by Wine Press Northwest), and 2007 Dolcetto as we turn the disk on our tables from red to green and enjoy unlimited quantities of 12 delicious rotisserie meats carved table-side.

Then the Big Hitters: 2005 Abacela Syrah Reserve, 2005 Abacela Tempranillo Reserve (which was #54 on The Wine Enthusiast's List of the Top 100 Wines of 2009 earning 95 points), and the great 2002 Abacela Tempranillo Reserve (from Chairman Atwood's cellar) to go with Ground Beef Empanadas and Parmesan Crusted Polentas.

For Dessert: Brazil Grill's Famous Cinnamon Roasted Pineapple with 2009 Abacela Blanco Dulce and 2006 Abacela Port. This is a great event in which to bring Prospective Members who like Great Wine with Great Food. Cost includes Gratuity, appropriate Reidel Stemware, and Complimentary Parking in the lot behind the restaurant.
