Torres Gran Corona "Uncorked" Tasting

6:30 PM, Saturday, March 3, 2012

Stinson-Erdman Home  - 6920 SW Windemere Loop  - 503-297-4217

Do old Spanish wines of the 300 year old Torres bodega at Villa Franca near the old city of Barcelona age well? Host, Richard Stinson says they do. Please join hosts Richard and Judy to take in the pleasures of these old gems as the tasting starts with the 1970 Black Label - the winner over 1970 Lafite and Latour among others in a blind tasting of 1970 Bordeaux-style wines in Paris in the 1970's.  The wines we will taste will be the Black Label Reserve of 1970, 71, 73, 75, 76, 77 and 78.  The wine is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc.  We will also compare/contrast the White Label of the years 1975, 77 & 78.  The wine is over 50% Cabernet Sauvignon with the balance being the traditional Spanish grape of Uil de LLebre.

If that is not enough we will also taste, the Torres Imperial Brandy, the Torres Imperial Brandy Gran Reserva and one Judy carried back from the winery in Spain (actually it was the duty free shop at the airport), the Torres Imperial Brandy, Fontenac.

As this is an uncorked, please bring a dish to share that will compliment these lovely old wines. Please also bring 4 - 6 Bordeaux glasses per person. If you do not have glasses, they will be provided, but they will not provide the same tasting experience as they are small bowls.
