The Duniway Hotel is located in the former Hilton Executive Tower. The Duniway offers things such as a day tour to go chanterelle mushroom hunting, amenities to soothe the body and mind (like the locally-sourced soaps), and a Powell's-provided book selection in each guest room. Jackrabbit PDX was the he most anticipated restaurant opening in Portland so far this year. And we’re going to check out big-time Celebrity chef Chris Cosentino’s gutsy, meat-forward menu. His menu includes braised rabbit with 80 cloves of garlic, something called “Meat in a Can,” and a pig’s head with chicories and his signature “brainaise” (yes, it’s just what it sounds like: mayo and pork brains). It’s about time brains entered the Portland food scene. Costentino offers more humble plates, too, like a grilled cheese with taleggio, duck egg, and honey ($14) and “Chef’s Last Supper,” with blood sausage duck egg, oysters, and herb salad ($22). And there’s a burger. But we’re going with a little more traditional menu for our first event here. We will start with a reception of mature vintage 1997 Champagne. Then a 2 bottle tasting each of the following 1997 California Reds.
