He was in good health. But he had knee surgery on a Monday and passed the following Thursday due to a blood clot in his leg. Be very careful following surgery. His former partners want to continue supporting WFSO. The steaks here compare very favorably with the steaks at El Gaucho; only more affordable. NV Nicolas Feuillatte Limited Edition Brut Reserve is one of our favorite non-vintage Champagnes. I will be paired with a terrific Wedge Salad and Blue Cheese Dressing. Chappellet was the first of the “late 60’s and early 70’s” generation of wineries to be built in Napa Valley. The winery was founded in 1967 by Donn and Molly Chappellet, a couple from Beverly Hills who wanted to raise their their family in a more rural setting. It’s located on the slopes of Pritchard Hill, which is Napa’s best known terroir to not yet be designated with its own sub appellation. Their firmly structured Chardonnay will stand up to the Spice Seared Tuna. Silver Oak requires no explanation. However, nearly 30 years ago, port style winemaker Andy Quady traveled from central California to do an event for WFSO. By then, he had refrained from using the word “Port” on his wines. In fact, he changed the name of his wines to “Starboard.” But we happen to have one bottle left of his 1982 “Port.” As we remember, It should go really, really well with cigars if you’re interested.
